Joining our OCTO HPE team and working as part of our OpsRamp team is a chance to make history and be a driving force in the industry. What you’ll do:
We’re solving the world’s most complex challenges, and our people are at the forefront of progress. We are looking for a hands-on senior architect with a passion to innovate and create cutting edge products for OpsRamp’s observability SaaS product. As a Senior Distinguished Technologist within OpsRamp, you’ll play a part in building the future – one big idea at a time. You’ll provide deep technical expertise, lead strategy and innovation across OpsRamp’s Intelligent Observability portfolio, and will be a key asset in championing HPE OpsRamp’s position with HPE customers and GTM partners externally and HPE internal cross-functional stakeholders.
This individual must demonstrate clear strategic thinking, a strong capability to work across multiple engineering leadership and an aptitude for driving technical strategy for emerging trends across Hybrid Observability and AIOps for cloud-scale modern applications. This role requires strong collaboration with multiple engineering teams, product management, and sales to drive enhancements for existing products as well as design and introduce new products to the market.
- Oversee build of OpsRamp’s Intelligent Cloud-Native Observability Platform.
- Understand cloud-native architecture concepts and have knowledge of best practices for high availability, scalability, resilience, performance, and security requirements in the cloud.
- Act as a cross-functional product and technical expert for observability within engineering with close working relationships with customers, product management, support, and marketing supporting edge-to-cloud services offering.
- Provides consultation, design input, and feedback for product development and design reviews across multiple organizations and architectures.
- Help transition proof-of-concept implementations into R&D teams to accelerate new product delivery.
- Creates technical content such as designs, specifications, and initial software implementations.
- Guides and mentors less-experienced staff members to set an example of software systems design and development innovation and excellence, helping to grow engineers into more senior technical roles.
- Collect product feedback from field interactions to provide input into Engineering and Product Management to influence product roadmap direction.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of OpsRamp SaaS product and product road maps, as well as that of the competition and prospective strategic partners.
- Travel 10% to 25% of the time to attend face-to-face meetings and presentations.
What you’ll need:
- 15+ years of relevant experience in the industry delivering technical and business strategy at an advanced/strategist level.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent
- Deep expertise in Observability at scale and application of AI/ML techniques to simplify ITOM.
- Strong understanding of the current state of ITOM markets, infrastructure automation, continuous integration/deployment, security, networking, and cloud-native models.
- Proven track record in transitioning large R&D organizations from developing products to developing as-a-Service offerings.
- Strong customer focus and obsession with improving service availability/performance and user experience/consumption using measurable SRE metrics.
- Must have a track record of architecting, building, and deploying mission-critical, highly distributed, large-scale SaaS applications
- Strong understanding of Cloud Native Design and Cloud Native Solutions Kubernetes, and eco-system solutions from CNCF space for cloud native workloads.
- Must have experience with at least one major IaaS and/or PaaS technology (OpenStack, AWS, Azure, VMWare, VMware Cloud Foundation, etc.) including defining and scripting full topologies.
- Must have strong knowledge of application failure modes, resiliency patterns, and techniques to enable robust, self-healing architecture.
- Effective technical leadership skills to influence diverse groups to move toward common goals/strategies.
- Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at the most senior organizational levels within internal and external organizations.
- Flexible consultative skills to handle a diverse set of activities daily and adaptable to drive ever-changing priorities.
- Must be able to work in a global, complex, and diverse environment.
